    LIBERTY IS OUR MOTTO...
SONGS & STORIES OF THE HUTCHINSON FAMILY SINGERS
    featuring Steve Blunt
    as
    NH’s OWN JOHN HUTCHINSON

Huzza, huzza, huzza! For much of the 19th Century, The Hutchinson Family Singers (of Milford, NH) were tremendously popular musical entertainers and social reformers. Their songs of freedom fought against slavery and advocated women’s rights—with lasting impact. The group sang in the White House for President Tyler in the 1840’s and for President Lincoln in the 1860’s. In this presentation, founding member John Hutchinson (portrayed by Steve Blunt) tells about the Hutchinson Family Singers and shares several of their highly popular songs: “The Old Granite State,” “Get Off the Track!” “Lincoln & Liberty,” and “Tenting Tonight on the Old Campground.” Living history presenter Steve Blunt is an award-winning singer/storyteller from Nashua, NH, who brings a fun, interactive approach to the Hutchinsons’ story. This program is suitable for school and community groups ages 9 and up.

(New Hampshire Humanities Council grants are available for performances that are free and open to the public. Details at: www.nhhc.org .)
