STEVE BLUNT (Solo): Gotta Play! Music & More–A fun, upbeat sing-along show guaranteed to burn calories and fuel the imagination! For summer reading 2016 Steve has created a special song, “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” reminding listeners that everybody wins at the library. With lots of laughs and audience participation, Steve’s music is never a spectator sport. His catchy tunes and bouncy beats–featuring a healthy dose of music & movement for younger children — provide an opportunity for library patrons of all ages to exercise the body, mind & spirit. So get your game on–and sing along! ($300; 45-60 minutes. Indoors or outside.)
STEVE BLUNT & MARTY KELLEY Sing-Along, Read-Aloud, Laugh-a-Lot Fun! Two veteran performers team up for a library show that stretches the imagination with original songs & stories for the whole family. Steve & Marty play “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” and other tunes on a variety of musical instruments–and Marty reads a few of his books aloud, with projected illustrations (www.martykelley.com). This performance invites audiences of all ages to flex their funnybones and join in the fun–with plenty of humor and audience participation. For 2016 Steve and Marty say, “We want to pump–clap–you up for summer reading!” ($450; 50-60 minutes. Indoors only for projected illustrations.)
STEVE BLUNT & FRIENDS Rockin’ Kids’ Music for the Whole Family! A high-energy library show with catchy tunes and lively rhythms for singing and dancing–and lots of silliness! The band features award-winning children’s musician, Steve Blunt, on vocals & guitar; author/illustrator, Marty Kelley, on drums & harmonica (www.martykelley.com); Berklee grad, Joe Pierog, on bass; and Noelle Boc, the singing librarian, on tambourine & ukulele. Music is always more fun when friends come out to play–and this rockin’ show invites library patrons of all ages to join in with singing, dancing, shaker eggs & more! ($600; one hour. Indoors or outside.)
NEW SUMMER READING OPTION:
Music & Movement with Mr. Steve!
A rompin’ stompin’ singalong for little ones (ages 0-4) and caregivers! Music is a fun way for young children to play with language–and limber up for literacy. This workshop develops physical, cognitive & social skills with a variety of age-appropriate musical activities: simple songs, fingerplay, sign language, gross motor movement, hands-on percussion, circle songs, etc. During the school year, Steve works as a music specialist at Rivier University’s Landry Early Childhood Center and Title I Preschool in Nashua, NH–he’s committed to making music part of a healthy, happy childhood. (Cost: $200, approx. 45 minutes. Note: This workshop is for children ages 0-4 and their caregivers. Maximum group size is approximately 25 persons total. No sound system will be used.)
